| DESCRIPTION Safe-T-Kote 920 Series Coating is a single component, latex polymer compound which forms a permanently flexible, elastic, waterproof membrane. 920 Series Coating is resistant to hydrochloric and sulphuric acid solutions exceeding 30 percent. The product is highly resistant to water and salt penetration and the effects of most chemicals. 920 Series Coating contains no volatile organic compounds and is flame retardant. 920 Series Coating contains a built in biocide and will not support mould growth. 920 Series Coating is ideally suited as a protective coating for industrial applications where moist acidic or alkaline atmospheres exist. Applied as directed, 920 Series Coating will protect steel structural members and decking for up to 12 years without the need for recoating. Typical applications would be steel mill clean lines, electroplating shops, pulp and paper mills and mine installations. APPLICATION 920 can be applied to steel surfaces showing surface rust, provided that the steel is first cleaned using high pressure water blasting combined with a neutralizing agent to adjust surface pH. One coat of our Neverox Anti-Rust Emulsion is then applied. In about one hour, the surface is then sprayed with one coat of 920 Series Coating using a high pressure airless system. The liquid may be applied by brush, roller or airless spray (compressed air supply pressure of 800 psi., Compression ratio of 28:1, tip size of .025” and a fan width of 8”). Because there are no VOC’s and the coatings are non-flammable, they can be used safely in enclosed areas without concerns about toxicity, fire or explosion. PRECAUTIONS Although 920 Series Coating is unaffected by freezing when cured, the product must be protected from freezing prior to use as it is perishable in the liquid state. Do not apply the product if freezing conditions are imminent before the final cure period of the membrane. Rubber or nitrile gloves as well as protective clothing, splash goggles and vapour respirator should be worn during application. 920 Series Coating is extremely difficult to remove from skin or clothing once it has cured. The product can be washed away with plain water prior to curing. Equipment must be cleaned with fresh water immediately after application. |
