EPOXIES - SELF LEVELING, CONCRETE REPAIR

SAFE-T-KOTE EPO-400 is our premium 100% solids, two part epoxy. There are no solvents in this product, however, it is provided in a very low viscosity, making it ideal for concrete repair and crack injection. The long pot life and self-leveling feature of this epoxy allows for easy, squeegee application, producing floor surfaces with outstanding abrasion and chemical resistance. EPO-400 is ideally suited as a secondary containment coating for acid solutions and many chemicals. The product is ideal for securing anchor bolts in concrete. For high strength mortar repairs, the volume of EPO-400 can be more than tripled by adding sand.

FEATURES

  • Low viscosity
  • 54 minute potlife
  • Can be mixed with 3 - 5 parts sand to 1 part mixed epoxy for high strength mortar repairs
  • Excellent chemical and acid resistance
  • Seals concrete containment chambers
  • Simple 2:1 ratio mix (by volume)
  • Outstanding adhesion to concrete, wood, stone, brick and fiberglass mesh
  • Great for securing anchor bolts in concrete
  • Compressive strength more than double that of conventional concrete
  • Will withstand heavy industrial traffic
  • Can be applied to damp concrete

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface must he clean and sound. Remove all dirt, oily residues, loose material and other foreign matter by sandblasting, mechanical abrasion, or acid etching. Remove water and dust from all surfaces with an oil-free blast immediately prior to application.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Temperature must be 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) or above at time of mixing. Stir each component separately before blending. Mix two parts A to one part B by volume for three minutes with a low speed electric drill motor equipped with a mixing paddle. To prepare a mortar, slowly add 3-5 parts by volume of clean, dry, well graded sand to one part by volume of mixed epoxy. Continue to mix until aggregate is thoroughly wetted down.

APPLICATION

EPO-400 can be applied with a brush, roller or squeegee when used as a primer or seal coat. For skid resistance, broadcast sand or rubber granules while epoxy is still wet, at a rate of 2 lbs. per square yard . For mortar repairs and anchor bolts, use sand mixture combination, press into cracks and cavities, and finish surface with  a trowel.

LIMITATIONS
Do not introduce solvents to the epoxy mixture. Use of solvents for thinning will prevent proper cure. New concrete must be 28 days old prior to application of  EPO-400. Temperature of substrate must be above 40 degrees F for an effective cure.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause eye and skin irritation. If contact occurs, wash immediately and seek medical help. Use safety glasses with side shields and wear protective rubber gloves.

CLEANUP
All tools and equipment should be cleaned before the system gels. Use MEK, Acetone, or Xylene.
